Bluegrass, Brews & BBQ, Night 3 | Sun. Nov 8th, 5pm

1 Peter Rowan with Special Guest Greg Douglass
Six Decades of Bluegrass and American Roots

Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and guitarist Peter Rowan has spent more than six decades helping shape the sound of bluegrass and American roots music.

His musical story includes time with Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys and a founding role in Old & In the Way alongside Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Vassar Clements and John Kahn. His songs include enduring favorites such as “Panama Red,” “Midnight Moonlight” and “Lonesome L.A. Cowboy,” and he co-wrote the bluegrass standard “Walls of Time.”

Rowan’s career connects generations of American roots music, making his Sunday appearance in New Harmony a rare opportunity to experience one of bluegrass music’s enduring voices in an intimate festival setting.

For this special New Harmony performance, Rowan will begin with approximately 30–40 minutes of his own material before welcoming longtime musical colleague Greg Douglass to the stage for a collaborative set — reconnecting two musicians who toured together in the United States and Europe in the early 1980s.

2 Greg Douglass
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Guitarist
Special Guest with Peter Rowan

When Peter Rowan welcomes Greg Douglass to the stage in New Harmony, it will be a reunion with real musical history. Douglass toured the United States and Europe with Rowan from 1980–1982, and the two veteran musicians will reconnect for a special collaborative portion of Rowan’s Sunday performance.

Douglass brings a formidable rock, blues and roots résumé. His career includes work with the Steve Miller Band, Van Morrison, Hot Tuna, Tom Johnston of the Doobie Brothers, Eddie Money, Tom Fogerty, Paul Butterfield and the Greg Kihn Band. He co-wrote the Steve Miller Band hit “Jungle Love” with Lonnie Turner and played slide guitar on the multi-platinum album Book of Dreams.

Published career materials describe Douglass as a 2016 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee with the Steve Miller Band. He is also a co-founder of the New Harmony Blues Festival, making this special appearance both a musical reunion and a homecoming to a festival he helped create.

Keeping the Heart of Bluegrass Alive

Legendary bluegrass DNA runs through Tim Graves & The Farm Hands. Tim Graves carries forward the musical legacy of his uncle, Dobro pioneer Josh Graves, while banjoist Don Wayne Reno is the youngest son of legendary banjo innovator Don Reno.

Alongside them, bassist and vocalist Terry Eldredge brings a remarkable bluegrass career and extensive performing experience. Together, the band delivers traditional bluegrass pedigree, strong harmonies, gospel influences and musicianship grounded in the music’s first generations.

Their song “Bluegrass DNA” makes that heritage explicit — a celebration of the musical lineage the band carries onto the stage.
