Ruth Wyand: Mama’s Got The Blues
Festival Opening Night
Ruth Wyand kicks off both the New Harmony Blues & Americana Festival and its two-night Women in the Blues Celebration on Friday, November 6.
Mama’s Got the Blues is a musical journey through 100 years of women in the blues, combining live performance, storytelling, historical imagery and film to bring a century of women’s music and stories to life onstage.
Created by blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Ruth Wyand with filmmaker Jean Antolini, the multimedia production traces the women who helped shape blues history — from foundational voices to artists whose stories deserve to be heard again.
This is not a lecture. It is an opening-night musical experience: history carried by songs, stories, images and Ruth Wyand’s distinctive fingerstyle guitar.
